Title: Duplicate merit upgrade requests can result in merits being deducted twice and an enhancement being upgraded beyond the intended transaction state. (My observation)

Summary:

I encountered an issue while upgrading the Evasion merit enhancement. I had 9 available merits and Evasion was at 8/10. The upgrade from 8/10 to 9/10 required 9 merits.

I clicked the upgrade button, but due to a network interruption there was no visible response, so clicked the upgrade again. After restarting my network connection and refreshing the page, Evasion was displayed as 10/10 and my available merit balance was negative.

The issue persists after completely closing and reopening the application.

Relevant activity log entries:

01:35:59 - 01/09/26 You assigned 9x merits to Evasion (9/10)

01:36:37 - 01/09/26 You assigned 9x merits to Evasion (9/10)

The two entries occurred approximately 38 seconds apart.

Observed result:

Evasion is now 10/10 and my available merits are -10.

Expected result:

Once the first upgrade consumes the available merits and changes Evasion to 9/10, the second request should either be rejected or revalidated against the updated account state. The account should not be able to enter a negative merit balance.

I have not intentionally attempted to reproduce or extend the behavior beyond the accidental occurrence described above.
