Torn's brand new Item Market has arrived. Instead of redirecting customers off to separate bazaars, listings can now be purchased in bulk directly from the item market, streamlining the shopping experience. Advanced filters and sorting options can also be applied to listings for weapons, armor, and cars. Furthermore, an option to list items anonymously is now available, at a significant additional cost, of course.
This update will take some getting used to; it's a drastic shift of direction for both the Item Market and Bazaars. If you want to buy or sell items on a global marketplace quickly, the Item Market is the place to do this. If you want to run your own shop or become a trader, Bazaars are the best option. My hope is that after some time, both the Item Market and Bazaars can flourish as separate features, each serving separate purposes.
Here are the highlights...
- Instantly purchase items from a long list of sellers in individual or bulk quantities directly from the Item Market. No longer will you be redirected to bazaars; everything is here, right at your fingertips.
- You can now utilize advanced filters and sorting options to find weapons within specific ranges of damage and accuracy. It is also possible to track listings with specific bonuses or bonus combinations. And when searching for armor, you can limit results to those within certain sets, your preferred price range, and even sort them in order of quality. An enormous amount of effort has been put into making sure the search tools can quickly narrow down results to exactly what you're looking for.
- The market's listings and available quantities will update in real time as items are added or sold, even while you're viewing the page.
- A 'Popular' tab attempts to shortlist Torn's most commonly traded items, allowing you to stock up on supplies in a pinch.
- There is no longer a 250 limit to the number of listings you can have on the Item Market. You can now place an unlimited number of listings.
- When creating or changing an Item Market listing, you may now choose to list the item anonymously. This means that the buyer won't know who they're buying from, significantly reducing the likelihood of buy-mugging. This does, however, come with a 10% sale fee which may negate any money saved.
- The Car Dealership and Property Broker 5* specials have been replaced. Previously, these specials reduced your fees when selling via the Item Market and Auction House. Moving forward, both specials will instead reduce the anonymous listing fees from 10% to 0%. Auction House fees will continue to be waived for one week for those with these specials.
- All sales on the Item Market will be free until February 22nd 2025 when a 1% sale fee will be applied. This fee will increase by 1% each month until reaching 5% on June 22nd 2025. My intention is to create a margin that will allow shop owners and traders to earn an income by avoiding these fees, rewarding both buyers and sellers who put in the extra effort to develop contacts or shop around for suppliers.
As always, there may well be issues upon launch, but the team is standing by ready to resolve them as quickly as possible. We are also very interested in updating this feature over time based on your feedback.
