As the Torn community continues to grow, so does our team. In the past year we've welcomed seven new faces, bringing our workforce to 40 dedicated professionals. As part of the ongoing expansion of our development team, we’re looking for a community member to join our management team, helping coordinate projects, clear roadblocks, and foster collaboration and support within our organization.
We already have interest from outside of Torn for this role, but I want to offer this opportunity to the community first. As our previous community hires have demonstrated, dedicated players with a deep passion for Torn and its playerbase are worth taking the time to find - if such a person is out there.
Role Overview
In this role, you will routinely check in with team members to understand project statuses and individual contributions, assist in driving projects forward, and provide support in decision-making processes. Additionally, you will produce periodic updates that offer insights into our collective progress.
A product management mindset - focusing on user needs, team alignment, and outcome-driven prioritisation - would be especially beneficial in this position. This role is for someone who is engaged in team collaboration, with opportunities to take on broader responsibilities as our organization evolves.
We are looking for a high-level professional within European time zones whose skills and experience align well with our workflow, increasing the team's efficiency without adding unnecessary bureaucracy. The right candidate will understand and respect our team’s high level of autonomy, allowing developers to think and work independently, while focusing on removing obstacles and streamlining processes rather than intensive supervision or micromanagement.
What Would Make You a Great Fit
- Based in a European time zone, to align with our core workforce.
- Deeply passionate about Torn, with demonstrable community engagement.
- Proven leadership of cross‑functional teams and projects, driving initiatives end‑to‑end.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows, and our tech stack including PHP, MySQL, JavaScript.
- Product-oriented mindset, including ownership of initiatives, prioritizing user needs, maintaining alignment with strategic goals, and driving iterative delivery.
- Proactive problem‑solving skills, anticipating obstacles, and proposing solutions independently.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines.
- Experience running regular team check‑ins and one‑on‑ones, surfacing blockers, and ensuring timely resolution.
- Proficiency with collaborative documentation tools, including maintaining templates, and version control.
- Skilled communicator in both written and spoken English, ensuring clear and effective collaboration.
These are our ideal requirements, but we recognize that not every candidate will meet every item. If you’re excited by this role and feel you can add significant value to our team, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t match every point.
Where You Could Make a Difference
- Identify areas within the team or organization that may be underperforming and proactively address issues to drive improvement.
- Produce reports and updates for use internally, as well as potentially regular communications for the wider community.
- Oversee project management processes, ensuring that everything progresses smoothly, deadlines are met, and resources are allocated efficiently.
- Support operational management by helping to coordinate day-to-day activities and streamline workflows across departments.
- Facilitate regular check-ins, one-on-ones, and team meetings to surface and resolve blockers, encourage collaboration, and maintain alignment on goals.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving documentation, templates, and collaborative tools to support knowledge sharing and team efficiency.
We’ve intentionally kept this list broad. The specifics of this role are flexible and will be shaped in part by your unique background and approach. We want to play to your strengths - we're eager to find out how you can make the biggest impact.
