Citizens,

We're delighted to announce Elimination 2025, which for the first and only time will be running during the month of December. This release follows a long project to rebuild the Elimination system from scratch, providing us with a new base to build upon in future years.

Although everything has technically been fully rebuilt, the experience should feel very familiar. We've been careful not to change too much for this initial run, so please don't expect a dramatic shift from previous years.

Please note, this is the first time we'll be running Elimination on this new system, so we're treating it as a Public Beta. Everything has been thoroughly tested, however, when used at scale there's always the chance of unforeseen issues. We will be watching things very closely.

Team Leadership

One notable change is the introduction of an official leadership structure. Each team will have a 48 hour voting period, running from midday on the 7th until midday on the 9th. We anticipate members running their election campaigns within the team's forum. The three team members with the most votes will become joint team captains, with the ability to send out newsletters to the entire team.

This is something we plan to refine over time based on feedback. For example, we're considering having only a single captain in future years, with assigned vice-captains alongside them. We may also add the option to have members 'run' for team captain, rather than everyone being eligible to receive votes. After internal feedback, we also plan to add the ability for captains to moderate the team's forum in the future.

Rules

This year, the following mechanics are in place.

- Random team assignment

- 12 teams

- 50 lives per team

- Lives are lost every 15 minutes

We understand there is a preference for longer durations between the loss of lives. This is something we'll be considering for future events, however we're wary that longer durations will result in larger pushes that could pose a risk to infrastructure stability. We'll see how things go this year, and go from there.

Rewards

This year introduces Profile Badges. Upon completion of the event, participants of Elimination will receive an Elimination profile badge unique to 2025 that becomes more extravagant depending on their team's final placement. Clicking on the badge will provide more details of the member's participation.

The usual honor bars will also be available to earn.

Mission Accomplished: Finish the Elimination competition with your team in 1st, 2nd or 3rd

Purple Heart: Achieve 50 attacks against enemy team members in the Elimination competition

Domination: Finish the Elimination competition with your team in 1st place

Supremacy: Finish the Elimination competition within the top 5% of attacks

We are looking for feedback and suggestions on additional reward systems that we could potentially implement in the future. Our struggle has been determining a reward structure that is more than simply cosmetic, isn't worthless to wealthy players while being disproportionately valuable for newer ones, and not already covered by existing mechanics such as Merits, Books, Enhancers, Company Specials, Faction Upgrades, Property Customizations, e.t.c.

We hope this year's elimination goes well and that all participants have fun. This is something we're excited to iterate upon annually based on feedback from the playerbase.

Thanks.
