Racing still too random? · · 3 likes

It sure seems like it is wildly random in the results. Lap times seem to wildly fluctuate throughout the race as well. Example, a race earlier today I set a personal record on the FIRST lap, then every lap after that was ran slower.

Twice now I have been ahead by almost half a track going into the last lap and just seem to stop as cars zip by me to win, all from that far back.

Also, I have been in races with my nephew 4 times now, since the update, and he has handily won all 4 of the races. Consider that the cars are identical, and my skill is 2 points higher. Yet they haven't been close. 2 skill points, as hard to come by as they are, should count for something, but if it does I haven't seen it. ( 12 DS to 10 DS )

OK, just now cashed in my 850 E boost. I was full on E and popped a Xanax before redeeming it. That should have brought me to 1250 E, instead I had Energy: 1000/150 00:00. What happened to the other 250 Energy???

I am not arguing that, I don't think it is right when I benefit from it either. I like the outcome better, but if I am being beaten to death in a race I don't think it is realistic to suddenly make up half a lap and pass someone in one lap.

I am obviously not going to quit over, and I am not stopping racing over it. I am pointing something that is annoying.

BTW, I think I have seen you pass me more than the other way around, you fast bastard. ;-)

aurel1 [1046304]So, you think that any kind of random is bad? Will it be better, if we will just have a constant speed change, and from the begining we will know, who will win?

No, any kind of random isn't bad. What I said was frustrating was how the game will just decide "you are an idiot" on the last 1-2 laps and you coast around the track while everyone else passes you, even though you had blown their doors off all race long.

Butters [34298]I personally only go with limited safety upgrades - they play no role in crashing afaiac as my fully upgraded GTR was crashing more than anything else I've got in the garage...

Honestly, I have been being hospitalized longer in the fully upgraded ( safety wise ) cars than the ones without any.

aurel1 [1046304]System was designed to allow such type of "overtakes" - it was made to leave somesurprise factor. Car can move a bit faster on some parts of the track, then it maybecome a little slower (and vice-versa for other car). This will not affect much on final result though (perhaps only 0.5-1%).

If it was designed to behave how it is, I will be blunt here, then that was a mistake and short sighted.

Another example, of how unrealistic and frustrating this is just did a race with 12 laps. Led for the first 8 laps. Then on the 9th lap just started crawling... and crawled all the way to the end, finishing 6th and 24 seconds behind. That isn't overtake, it is the game saying that you forgot where the gas pedal is at.

I will say it again, if it was designed to operate that way, that was a mistake. I know a few people that have already quit racing due to frustration from things like this and the constant crashing. ( Crashing is another issue, some people are losing points overall )

I have been in 2 races recently with just 5 people in the race. And I don't know how many I have seen fill just as the race is starting. People are not enjoying it, for the most part.

SOME of the changes are great, and I appreciate the hard work put in on the game and racing. It isn't all bad, but parts of it are bad and that is causing frustration.

Butters [34298]I don't mind the randomness as otherwise it would just be the players with the fastest cars winning all of the time.

Having said that it's almost comical seeing your car slow down to a crawl in the middle of the final lap and gives up a 10+ second lead on sections it's supposed to be (and has been) faster in. When the racing algorithm decides you should be going slow to let everyone else catch up then you're basically screwed.

Oh yeah, it is just awesome to see your car go from 1st to 4th-5th on the last lap, even when you were half a lap ahead... over and over and over.

Again, half a lap ahead with one lap to go... come in 3rd. Yes, just awesome.

Just watched a race on Withdrawal where a NSX took 1st and 3rd, against 2 lexus and astons. Yeah, right.

Ummm, the NSX is HORRIBLY out of balance now. I see people winning with the NSX on the pure speed tracks like Withdrawal, and the speed/acceleration tracks as well. The NSX should NEVER place on a track like that. If your top speed is over 40 MPH under the Lexus/Ferarri/Aston Martin... you should NEVER be able to place with the NSX on a track where top speed is that important.

Even the greatest driver in the world can't make the car go 40-50 MPH faster.

This BS of having to use 20-30 points every other day has to stop. Racing is one of the main things I enjoy in TC, way to make me want to quit.

Has anybody crashed yet? ·

Crashed twice, seems they might want to tone down the crash chance. As it seems most races have a crash now. I was in two races with two crashes in both of the races.
