Can you check how much money is in a piggy bank in Torn without smashing it?

How is the money released and what amount can it hold?

  • The Torn Wiki warns that storing cash in someone's faction bank is a scam risk: if they refuse to return it, it is lost. It recommends banking on your own account or in a house vault.[1]
  • The wiki says a Donator Pack provides 31 days of donator status and 60 points upon opening. It is a Supply Pack with a sell price of $23,500,000 and a market value of $24,620,426 (2025-09-14 capture).[2][3]
  • Money is added through the inventory page with no limit on the amount. Opening it puts the money in the owner's hand and the item disappears. Other players cannot reach the money by mugging or any other means.[4]
  • Advice on cash: carry only what is needed, about 50-200k for plushie runs. Higher-margin goods such as scales need about 2.5m and were said to raise return from roughly 850k to 1.3m per trip. (one player's report)[5][6]
  • Patch #222 (14/12/2021) added a Dollar Sale system to Bazaars: $1 listings are only available to limited random individuals.[7][8]

  • The Crime Enhancer is the Mountain Bike. Having a Torn City Times in inventory unlocks extra outcomes. Both can be lost on a critical fail. The enhancer gives +5% crime experience and skill gain and must be kept in inventory.[25][26][27]
  • Business Class Ticket, Mini Sleigh and Lump of Coal can be received at random from the Coupon Exchange. Mini Sleigh and Lump of Coal also come from chests. Mini Sleigh sells for $5 and Lump of Coal for $1 at Bits 'n' Bobs.[28][29][30]
  • TornLife data lists Chedburn as Torn staff, Owner / lead developer. His forum posts carry the Developer role.[31][32]
  • The Piggy Bank (item 820, Special) is sold in the Mission Credit Store, Missions tab, for 5 mission credits, after the first three New Player Missions. It is available for the first seven days only, cannot be acquired any other way and cannot be added to Display.[4][33]

Does the item show its stored money before it is smashed or opened?
