Blocking another player
What TornLife's research has established about Blocking another player, and the questions players asked about it.
What TornLife has verified
- Torn's chat system maintains a per-player 'blocked list': a staff member confirmed that when two players could not chat with each other despite neither having clicked a block button, it was because one was on the other's blocked list, and said this was 'working as intended,' implying blocking (however it was set) prevents chat between the two players. (confirmed by Torn; User blocked yet no block clicked, )
- Separately from the blocked list, Torn's chat has a 'Decline chats from strangers' setting and a 'Recently Met' list; a player can remove someone from their Recently Met list via the Chat UI, after which that person is treated as a stranger and cannot chat with them unless the player reinitiates contact by sending a chat message, in-game message, or a dollar (which re-adds them to the Recently Met list). (confirmed by Torn; Chat calls spouses and faction mates strangers, )
