What is karma on the Torn forums and how does it work?

Karma is a score measuring the likes and dislikes a player's forum posts have received. It cannot go below zero, and reaching 1000 karma unlocks the VIP Corner forum.^[1]

How it works

• Karma measures the likes and dislikes a player's forum posts have received.^[1]
• The lowest possible karma is zero, however many dislikes a player gets.^[1]
• Reaching 1000 karma gives access to a special forum called VIP Corner. This is the only use or reward the wiki lists.^[1]

When karma does not change

• The post is under thirty characters long.^[1]
• The thread is locked or in the graveyard.^[1]
• The thread is in your faction's forum, company forum, elimination contest forum or the Trading Post forum.^[1]
• The rater is a new player, has not posted in the forum in a long time, or has been mass-rating a single user's posts.^[1]

After a post is rated, there is only a short period to change the rating before it becomes permanent.^[1]

History

Patch list #19 (10 Nov 2017) changed karma mechanics to be a purer representation of likes vs dislikes. The entry gives no details of what changed.^[2] The wiki description was captured in 2022, so later changes would not show in it.^[1]
