There is still a hold that was placed to prevent the full removal until any appeals put forth are dealt with. Still a win for the state even though it is not an instant effect.

The US Supreme Court basically did the same thing. This ruling in Utah, although landmark for the home of the Mormon church, is nothing more than an acknowledgement of the federal ruling.

The individual states are slowly catching up with federal law. Exciting times.

Getting involved in other people's marriages has to be one of the most ridiculous things to spend time on in life. :)

Beerstein [1322136]How is it a win for the state if the populace wants the ban? It's more of a win for everyone with good sense.

win for people with good sense? How is that might I ask?

Because anyone WITH good sense considers this a win. :)

B-W [1009930]Meh. if gay people want to be as miserable as straight people. It should be there rite.

To be fair, since gay people are no different to straight people, it's not just a right, it's totally humanly unavoidable.

But yes, marriage does come with some challenges, no doubt, so does not being allowed to marry the person you've spent your whole life with as is the case with some older couples who've been together 30, 40++ years but then come into some sad issues in older age regarding inheritance, hospital visiting rights, insurance/pension, etc

There are also issues long before that, so misery is not just a "right" reserved for those poor hets. ;)
