Steps to reproduce both issues.

1. Go to the main screen of the Bugs & Issues forum (directly clicked via forums.php)
2. Go to a large page number (I used 6 at time of this posting)
3. Use the filtering to only show bugs of "Confirmed" status
4. Note that no results are shown, despite bugs of "Confirmed" status being existed - this is because the page that was being used on the previous page is preserved, i.e. page 6 of "confirmed" is attempted to be shown, as that is what was viewed on the previous screen. (Bug 1)
5. Click the filtering icon and note that the menu of the filtering is hidden behind the page number list.
