This takes place 200 years in the future. The world has been twisted, with scientific developments mutating parts of the population and bringing to light the existence of the supernatural. The human population is pitted against the supernatural and the other-worldly in a losing fight. Now there is one city left: Torn.
Within Torn there is a research lab, Neo Industries, which by all accounts, does not exist, but they are the leading in scientific developments. They have the best weapons, the best armour, the best vehicles, and the best drugs.
Recently they have developed a drug that they have labeled X-M21. The first 20 failed with deadly results, but this one seems to do exactly as intended: Allowing the human body to push itself past its limits. The drawback? The addiction is deadly, with the body beginning to break down within 24 hours if not taken before then.
The drug, however, isn't the main focus of Neo's research. It is only the partner to their pet project: Teleportation.
Before the drug, the human body couldn't handle the pushing and pulling the portal created. Now, they can.
Those chosen to travel the portals are mercenaries, hired out to deal with threats throughout the world in an effort to turn the tide against the scourge that plagues the earth. This is their story.

Name: Darren
Age: 20
Skillset: Pistol and first aid
Description: Short and scrawny, brown hair, brown eyes. Average appearance, average background. Fortune seeker.
After a year of rigorous training at Nero Industries, and numerous trials under X-M21, the first class is ready to embark on a trial run before 'officially' testing out the portals. The destination? The outskirts of Torn City. There were rumours of a class D beasty running around, picking off the poor saps who were foolish enough to leave the safety of the walls.
Darren was one of the lucky few who had been chosen to hunt the beast down. He wasn't very sure how this would turn out. He hadn't even met his team yet.
Shit, his hands were shaking. He needed to calm down. Nobody likes a medic with shaky hands. 'Stay cool, Darren. It'll be fine,' he told himself, leaving his dorm room and entering the briefing area.
Name: Henry "Hank" Griffiths
Age:33
Skillset: Heavy Weapons, Rifles, combat
Description: Formidably tall and athletic, Hank looks like someone you wouldn't want to provoke. He has a neatly trimmed black beard and intense, focused eyes. Despite his intimidating appearance, Hank is quite friendly and generally slow to anger.
Hank clenched the rifle tighter. It was still shaking. Was he nervous? No, that wasn't it. How long had it been since he last had his fix? He checked his watch. Only 8 hours. It felt like much longer. Well, a small dose wouldn't hurt. He went over to his bag and injected himself. He didn't even feel the needle anymore. Almost instantly, he felt his nerves cool. He picked up his rifle and shot a few rounds. He grinned with pride as each shot found its target.
After a few hours of training, Hank showered and changed in his dorm. He walked into the briefing area, hair still slightly wet. A young man was standing at the table. He recognized him from the files. "Darren, right? Good to finally meet you." He shook his hand.
Name: Kyro
Age: 19
Skillset: Stealth, Melee, and Sidearms
Description: Thin and lanky, much stonger than he looks. Somewhat long, blonde hair. Red eyes, always wears a red amulet. Likes to work alone.
(Two hours before briefing)
Equipped with his dual silenced Baretta ZX80s, his Chain whip, and his Katana, Kyro left his room and went to the Cantina for lunch, before going to the Training Hall.
He ordered a Ham Sandwich and Coffee and found a table to sit at. After eating, he went down to the Training Hall to get some practice.
Darren looked up at the tall man, shaking his hand and smiling unsteadily. His nerves were still shot, but at least he managed to keep his hands steady. "Hey, yeah it's Darren. You must be Hank. I'm looking forward to working with you." Darren smiled a bit wider, secretly proud that he managed to speak without stuttering.
After training for a bit, Kyro went down to the Briefing Area.
As he sat down, he saw Darren and Hank at the other table.
"Hey guys," Kyro muttered as he injected himself with his daily dose of X-M21.
After a few minutes of relaxing, another person walks through the door.
(Sorry for the short response guys, there isnt much going on.)

Name: Cordelia Maine
Age:28
skillset: Sniping and infiltration
Description: Standing at just barely 5'3" in her boots, Cordelia isn't the most physically imposing, with tanned, freckled skin, dark blue eyes, and auburn hair pulled back into a severe bun. She weighs approximately 120 lbs with lean muscle hidden beneath the navy blue jacket she keeps buttoned tight. The woman looks rather strict, the burn scar along her left temple doesn't make the small woman any less intimidating.
Cordelia had entered the briefing room casually, shoes hardly making a sound as she walked, she was used to it and found no use in pretending like she didn't know her place at the table just to socialize. As she sits, she begins twisting her rings out of habit, waiting to be debriefed on their next mission. She had already taken the X-M21 around three hours prior and had an excess of energy coursing through her veins, making her splay out her fingers and clench them into fists beneath the table to burn some of it. One of her pet peeves of the drug is all the energy, as Cordelia is a rather subdued person and always finds it distracting when other people squirm and can't sit still. She sighs, dark blue eyes scanning the room as she awaits her instruction.
(I'll leave that there before I end up writing a full-out novella. Hope late entries are alright!!)
Name: Alex 'Twitch' Mason
Age:24Skill set: Tech, Demolitions, chemistry, grenade launcher.
Description: Fit is the best way to sum up Alex in a single word. Alex is 5'8" and is about 200 lbs of muscle with little body fat. He has green eyes and keeps his dark hair cropped short and is frequently missing his eyebrows (usually from some botched experiment or prototype) he works independently from Neo Industries R&D as he primarily builds things to assist with the away missions, though he is required to submit paperwork to the company to test his devices in the field. His left ear is missing a piece from a stray round. He prefers to be called Twitch.
Twitch had been in the briefing room long before anyone else had appeared, though he was looking around under the table for a missing screw. Successful in finding the screw he returned to his seat and resumed working on what looked to be a heavily modified television remote. he didn't look up from his work, having recently taken his dose of X-M21 his hands worked swiftly on the task at hand, "So, anyone have any idea where they're sending us to this time? I'm itching to try out my new detonator." He grinned, anyone who knew him could tell he was eager to blow something to ashes.
Cordelia's eyes had landed on Alex as he was emerging from under the table. It's a good thing she wasn't wearing a skirt while he was down there or else she may have kicked him in the face. She was just a mass of energy under her remarkably composed demeanour. "I hope it's somewhere warm, I'm fed up with all this rain," she responds, brushing away a nonexistant stray strand of auburn hair. She always keeps her hair back so severely, the day her hair is out of place when she is with company is the day one should fear for both her mental wellbeing and their own lives."Is that a detonator or a bomb? Or are you mixing it up with a bit of both?" Look, she can be humorous sometime.
Twitch continued working on his project "I have no idea, it's not like we get weather forecasts or anything. Though a sunny place would be a nice change of pace." He held the remote up examining one of the on-board chips "This thing is just a detonator." after a moments thought the grin returned to his face "though I suppose I could overload the battery in a pinch.... it just wouldn't be that big of a bang." he shrugged putting his screwdriver down and swapping it for a voltage tester. "I haven't blown any of our teammates up yet Cordelia, you were just too close to the last blast. I suppose I did put a little more punch into that last one. I was trying to destroy a fortified communications array after all."
"I'd prefer if the battery stayed at the amount of loaded it should be. Acid burns aren't fun." She'd know, she had the back of her neck splashed with acid as she was running from a botched mission a few years back. It wasn't a fun time. She was assuming that the battery acid would end up splashing, she isn't very technical."I'm the infiltration expert, so I had to lay it down. You burnt the hair of my arm off." Her lips quirk up at the edges, hinting at one of those rare grins of hers."It really does prove that not looking at the explosion is better."
