Just got this message when reviving a faction member:
SAME IP FOUND!! We cannot complete this request because one of your IP's are too close to the person you are trying to interact with. This is a warning message to prevent you from being banned. Using more than one TC account to better yourself is against the rules. Doing this or committing acts which may look like you're doing this, may result in a federal jailing.
Have revived him many times before and we know we live hundreds of miles apart. There is security against multiple accounts and there is restricting game play!
Any ideas how we stop this happening in the future?
If you are blocking people because they happen to use the same mobile phone provider then I think you are seriously breaching acceptable terms and conditions for people who pay to play a game
It's a donation, but seriously, people living in the same RL house can happily play the game together (live together in Torn, be in the same faction etc), being able to send stuff to someone is kind of minor when you consider all the good that these blocks do.
It's not a donation when you get a benefit for doing it, it's a paid for service but that's pedantics. The blocks don't stop the multi accounts or abuse of the game but it certainly restricts game play for the honest players.
Will this be a permanent block or does it have a lifespan?
Semantics* yeah I agree, if no one cheated it would be a lot more fun, we could help out referrals etc, but we just need to get people to stop cheating.
So the blocks drop after 1-3 months, so if you stay off whatever caused the block then try sending $1 every week or so and see if it eventually drops.
it's not really that uncommon, i know that at some point me and bogie have had similar IPs as we can't attack each other and we both live in different countries

I've been randomly attacking players and found someone who has an IP that is similar to mine, preventing me from carrying out my attack. "You cannot attack this person as the IP they use is too close to your own! "
I found it funny and inquired about where the person lives and he is like so very far away.

My question would be just to know how this came to happen... I mean it is not an issue it is more out of curiosity.
Thanks for the response, I did use my cellphone to connect to torn a lot recently with the LTE network...
As I said earlier, it is not an issue, was just funny and unexpected. I imagine that, with time, the system will eventually get improved to target better who to block.
I got quite a few IP blocks when I used the Chrome browser on my phone - something to do with the pre-load caching I set up. Now I use the built in browser (for Torn only) and I get a lot less IP conflicts.
When I was using old phone, I had IP conflict with others who used the same mobile browser, at the time it was Opera Mobile. Currently only IP conflict I have is with my brother who lives in the same house. So, yep, I would love to have some more upgraded IP tracking, so that multies can be separated by real players with same IP, but heh, you can't do anything about that.
