The bonuses listed on the competition page are for eggs you pick up only. You receive the bonus when you pick them up. Eating any easter eggs will only give you 50 happiness, without any of the 'pick up' bonuses.
So buying eggs off the market is only good for completing a set or getting 50 happy per egg.
