You won't make money from day one. You need to hire employees, advertise and invest in upgrades and business education. If you want some quick money you're better off working for someone else.

It is possible to if you know what you are doing. Also as a requirement you'd need to take a lot of time to find employees, which is extremely hard on the first day.
I'd also say I am in agreement most companies are not worth being the director for as there is little profit to be made in most, and there are other interesting investments until you reach the point the expensive companies are viable.
