is there a difference between the different rings' use? or is it just appearance (and price lol).

There is no difference in the rings except as you stated the appearance and price.

You used to able to propose using a ring. The more expensive the ring the better spouse you could get xP

All rings do the same job... So if you want to propose just do it with whatever ring you have.

the ring you choose sais what sort of commitment, and how much you care,

- band of silver - you probably used hundreds to try aand find a spouse
- gold - maybe 15 ssent
- saphire - only a handful sent
- diamond (what i used) - you send one because you show commitment

Im pretty sure you don't send the ring to people in order to marry. You go to the item in your inventory, click on the sub-heading [Propose] and then enter the name/ID of the person you wish to marry.

yeah, but my mate (now in federal, still have no idea why) sent out over 200 gold and silver rings on the second day, costed him under 100k, got his spouses PI day 2, then started doing VERY well

Your mate simply got lucky. Sending out rings worth up to 100k is hardly the best approach for a marriage but I suppose in his case it worked.

To me that says you had trouble getting the marriage fully complete, but once sorted you have now spent 2 and a half months together... not a long time at all though if im honest. My previous marriage went for over 2000 days... what does that tell you?
