So Ched has made it clear that they are looking for cheaters but what if i wanted to have a friend of mine hold onto my money and keep it safe? we have logged into our accounts from the same IP but we've never used the same account. Would we get into trouble for that or no?

The new system and announcement says no...you'll be fine. But I'd suggest finding ways of keeping it safe yourself, just from a practical point of view....Could you not do whatever he's doing to keep it safe?
One finer point- Chedburns post said that they can as LONG as they actually play the account. It is a semantic point, but Chedburn was saying that the account can't exist to solely benefit you. So if they already are active (reasonably say logs in a few times a day) and actually play the game *should* be fine, but it will be monitored closely. It will have to be a give and take, and not just a give or a take on the accounts. They will be looking at several factors when deciding if they ban you or not. How much of a dance to play is at your own risk though.
Be advised- if you are playing to have a multi do so at your own risk. The tools they shown are very good and will make it incredibly hard for you to say they are not against the rules.
What we know they are defining is past the line they draw is where an inactive friend is doing the banking for you that logs in once every few months. So again, this is a dance at your own risk if they are not very active on their own.
