If you are attacked and or hospitalized while racing does it in any way affect your performance in the race?

If you are attacked and or hospitalized while racing does it in any way affect your performance in the race?
No
You can attack, or get mugged, won't affect the race. You can do trades, buy and sell in the item markets, do crimes, get caught and thrown in jail, and it won't affect your race. Want to buy/sell in the stock market, or bid on auctions? Sure, go for it. Train in the gym? Play in the casino? No problem. Once the race starts, you can do almost anything.
The one thing you *can't* do while racing is to travel to other countries. It won't let you travel while in a race. Other than that, anything goes.
Sort of funny to think that's how things work. I could just imagine some guy doing curls with one hand while driving with the other.
