API - Now online

Today we're officially releasing our brand new API to the public. We're very excited to see what you guys can create using it!


The API system can provide live Torn data to any web page, server, browser extension, software, IRC script or mobile / tablet application. While to most people this might seem pretty dull, there is a huge amount of potential for some really great things to be built using it.


I expect we'll see browser extensions to aid factions during wartime, mobile applications to offer instant notifications, websites tracking data for graphing, and about a million other things we haven't even considered. It's only limited by the creativity of our players.


Every user has an 8 character API key found in preferences - You'll only ever have to use this, certainly NEVER your Torn password. By inputting this code into something utilizing our API, it can instantly grab data about your account, for instance: your current money, bank balances, stats, events, items, personal stats, HOF positions, awards, icons, recent attacks, stock portfolio, properties, company details and faction details. The software can then use this data to create useful tools in any form possible, from text message alerts to CityWatch style applications.


At any point in time, you can reset your API key, revoking access to your personal data.


We'll be working with the community to constantly improve / build upon the API system in our new API development forum. Please feel free to discuss your projects / proposals / ideas here.
