Would it be beneficial to allow a generic API key (or an empty key) to be used on some of the more generic endpoints provided? An API key for a given user gives you insight into detailed stats on that user, but if I'm not interested in any user and just want to query against the /torn/ endpoint I still have to use a valid user API key. It would be nice to have an empty api key or similar to query the endpoints.

No, for now you will need your own key for any kind of request.
