hey all ive seen mixed theories on natural nerve, on one forum i saw someone say to skip things like pick pocket and stick to low level crimes but on Nash's guide to nerve it says to do the pick pocket crimes and i noticed one poster said they had a nnb of 30 with approx 2k theft crimes but ive done 2k theft (mainly jackets) and a few hundred illegals but only nnb of 20. just wondering where ive gone so wrong?

They key is avoiding crimes that put you in jail, succeeding a crime gives a fixed amount of crime experience whereas being jailed takes away a percentage... this can far exceed what you can gain.
End of the day at this early stage your best bet is still just going to be trial and error, attempting pickpocketing can be fine but as soon as you can I'd recommend stepping up to the 7 nerve crimes where hospitalisation is the failure outcome.

do thorough robbery if you want higher nerve bar faster, otherwise steal jackets if you want merits faster.
I did less than 2000 steal jackets and got natural nerve bar 25: maybe you was jailed more than me.
please compare your number of jailings with mine and see if yours are higher than mine (I'm traveling right now, I can't compare our stats).
2 ways in build nerve:
1. risk way,long time,more merit.
2. safe way, short time, less merit.

ok thanks. ive been jailed 28 times but not all 2k has been jackets but mostly.
but in saying that this person i saw said a fair chunk of their theft crimes were pick pocket but most of mine are jackets (which ive probly only failed a hand full) yet theirs is 10 nn more than mine.
I bet that with 2500 thefts you will get 2 merits and nerve bar 25. keep doing jackets
The crime experience for succeeding pickpockets far out weighs the crime loss for failing at the early stages. Plus there's one that doesn't jail you if you have $250 on hand (kid I think?).
