Anyone have any idea how this will affect current upgrades/respect etc.? Does the respect spent get restored to be assigned elsewhere?

Your total respect including that spent on specials will be refunded. No one knows for sure (except the coders) how the upgrade tree system will work.

i don't or maybe i do, you will neva know

as for how the tree system and things work, nothing other than that brief preview has been released so you will have some time to wait for the war update, ched gave an indication on how far they were in a bulletin i think
