Hi,
Not sure if this has already been suggested or recommended but I will go ahead and post anyway. Feel free to post back what you think :D
I play another online game which requires a high level of activity and a lot of sitting around at your laptop/computer being 'online' failure to do so may result in being booted from your clan or a strike against your name from your clan. However constant activity is not something that everyone can maintain and sometimes for whatever reason may it be you just can't be online. In the other game i mentioned this normally means you are booted from the clan or players take advantage of your inactivity meaning you lose out.
In order to circumvent this and give players some breathing space the game has a feature called 'Account sitting' which is a relatively simple one. When one cannot be around or for whatever reason is not able to access the game they can set a sitter. Essentially this is a baby sitter for your account while you are gone, maintaining and looking after your account.
While Torn is not as rigorous or time consuming (you may disagree) a certain level of activity is required. For example I have noticed where a player goes inactive he may lose effectiveness stars when working for a company (i think?) or if a member of a faction goes inactive he will in most likelihood get the boot as he is not much use. Or it may just be a player cannot be around and this will result in lost days of training.
Might it be a good idea to implement such an idea in Torn?
Some of you may have concerns such as the potential theft of players belongings/ misuse by sitters/zombie accounts which may arise and other things that could go wrong.
In order to get around this there would be limitations on the power a sitter may exercise. A few examples I will list below.
- Permissions tab which lets a player click what activities a sitter can or cannot do.
(i) Money - Sitter cannot gamble, trade. send money
(ii) Attacking - Sitter cannot attack
(iii) Sitter cannot access faction page, forums, mail battlestats
(iv) Account sit only lasts x amount of time, at the end the sit will terminate and the account may no longer be sat, until after x amount of days.
Apologies for this being a bit long winded or if it has already been discussed, again i apologise. Hope to hear what you guys and girls think.
Regards
J
