I think that taking almost 8 years to complete a virtual course is slightly absurd but that can stay the same if you add a shortcut. I think it would be better if there was possibly a way to cheat on a test to do homework, things along those lines that could deduct the time left until the course is completed. We could have positive and negative boost. This could use nerve to keep it from being abused.
Positive Boost: Doing homework takes of 1 hour of the course you have to do.
Negative Boost: Cheating on a Test could reduce the time but if you get caught you get time added or have to restart the course. You would get more of a boost from negative boost. This is when you balance risk and reward.

You can reduce education time with ways you will discover as you play this game.

Faction specials such as adept reduce it http://www.torn.com/wiki/Factions#Specials

Merit upgrades reduce it http://www.torn.com/wiki/Merits

There are also job specials, permanent boosts and others to use on the day that can improve your education time http://www.torn.com/wiki/Jobs http://www.torn.com/wiki/Companies

There are also items such as the book of carols to reduce it 6 hours per use.

Cries they can't finish all the education in a day
Wants to change a full, 2.0 system that took a good few years to be developed and released.

also, if you're just trying to reduce time theres Fitness Centers, Merits and Faction "boosts"

Reminder, your taking 8 years to complete multiple bachelor degree that takes around 3-5 years each. Getting 12 bachelor degrees in 8 years seem pretty fair by comparison.
