Is the director of a company necessarily the one that owns it? Because there is a sell company option and a change director option. What do these do?

Is the director of a company necessarily the one that owns it? Because there is a sell company option and a change director option. What do these do?
I mean, its pretty self explanatory..
One of them sells the company back to 'the system' for very little cash, the other allows the current director to make someone else in the company the director.
Well one sells the company back to the system for a certain amount the other let's you make someone else the director of the company which means they control the company
