In Ireland their is a slightily disturbing legend about a god known ads Crom Cruach. He promised to always protect his people and esure that their crops grew as long as they made hundreds of daily human sacrifices to him. The victims were usually beheaded. However, one day Crom's worshippers got carried away and accidently beheaded the king. Somehow, because the king lost his head, Crom's head also fell off his body. It is said that he still rides through the Irish countryside at the dead of night searching for his quota of sacrificial victims.
