My rank on tortstats for times ran away is 57 264. i have a few sections that have higher rank than this but my title is still coward. Why?

You are probably looking at the wrong ranking, I have done 57 runaways ( about 50 less than you) and I'm ranked 2,000th in tornstats...
It's a percentage compared to the all other players in Torn. That highest # is your title. I won't get into it too far but think of it like this.
If you have 100 runaways total, and the average in all of torn is 50. 100 divided by 50 is 2. Your score for the category of runaways and thus the "Coward" title would be "2". Now let's say you have 150 attacks won but the average in torn is 2,000, your score would only be 0.075. Since runaways is worth "2" and attacks are only worth "0.075" for the "killer" title. Now with only those 2 titles considered, you would earn the Coward title.
How do I get to this conclusion? Easy, people with only 1 stat enhancer taken routinely get the booster award because the average stat enhancers taken in torn city is 0 or 0.00001 so simply getting 1 gives you a very high average that is very hard to overcome in other categories. This can also be seen on MY profile with the intimidator title since the average score in torn for "enemies ran away" is very generally very low therefore my title won't be easy to change.
