Going from the anecdotal evidence via different threads it looks like eggs were much easier to find early in the competition and are spawning (getting laid?) much less frequently now.

Makes sense if it's an Easter egg hunt the numbers would go down
This was the case last year as well. You'd find tons of eggs in the first week and it slows down drastically from there. Overall we'd be lucky to find above 20 eggs throughout the entire competition.
Hard for someone who only has one goddamn egg.
Ah, that indeed makes sense, thx. Unfortunately I was always the kid that showed up much later after all the aggro rambunctious kids already ravaged the fields.
