Do you get more Driving skill racing stock cars (so race takes longer), or is it just total laps raced and where you finish?

I don't think the time matters, and I don't think it matters what place you come in. I think it's mostly (and possibly entirely) based on distance. That's why I do lots of 100 lap races on the docks track.
Yeah I wasn't sure about the time (using slower cars). I was convinced when I started, that I accumulated driving skill more quickly when placing higher in official races. Back then I could see my skill increase to the second decimal place. Now it's only one (ie 10.2) so harder to notice changes.
