I don't know about you, but I like to tweak my cars to get the most effective combo of upgrades. I have started a suggestion to allow us to either keep the top tier upgrades so we can change them out, or to be able to do so with a reduce cost of points and cash. If you want to see this possibly come true check out Racing Upgrades in the suggestions.

Yes, I also want to tweak my car just to try it on different tracks and see how it performs. There should be a way for us to keep the switched parts.
Alternatively - it would be nice to be able to own/upgrade multiple cars of the same type. For example, I'd love to have one NSX for tarmac and another for dirt.
On the one hand, I completely agree with both of you from a quality of life standpoint. However, I think from a strategic standpoint, that would result in the need to build significantly fewer cars (first suggestion) and more homogeneity in race composition. (second suggestion) People would probably be "maxed out" much earlier in their racing careers. The need and ability to differentiate between absolute and relative advantage is one of the few things driving strategic decisions in racing.
Although if there were a wider variety of parts, this could be preserved.
