That right. Another crying thread. Buckle up.

So anyone reading this probably knows already that 2 factions changed their genders to try and join PP this year. Also, in a change from last year, all female profiles got the PP option this year.

This change is important - if all these people had changed their genders before last years comp it wouldn't have made much difference. Its the fact that the "tactic" as some people are calling it, was 100% effective which made this a problem.

If they knew that all female profiles would get PP as an option then this is unarguably straight up cheating. But intentional or not this "tactic" has had a huge impact.

But why?

The answer is activity.

High ranking factions demand active players. More active than average. So the fact that two such factions got to choose which team to join means this team now has way more players with higher than average activity. The fact they are in the same faction is incidental - a byproduct of circumstance - and not why this a problem. The random team choices last year resulted in a distribution of super active players. This year that was bypassed.

The graph below shows the number of hits of the first and last person on each page of the 3 top factions in terms of attacks so far, up to page 20.

PP are blue. MM are green. Pirate are yellow. (yeah i spent too long on this already to colour code the graph).

Clearly PP have way more active players. No too many strong players, or too many players from the same faction - neither of those make all that much difference.

So all these people commenting on threads accusing others of crying about nothing, or saying its not that big of an advantage are wrong. There is a legitimate complaint to be made here. However it came about, the result of this mass gender change is unquestionable.

Obviously this is the elimination tournament so anything could happen. But I think the impact of what happened with PP is being massively under-estimated. As with everything else in this game, activity is king, and they have everyone else beat in that department hands down.

Buston [2018371]

you could have summed your 'analysis' in two words.

Activity = King

but then again I guess the main things you need on torn is:

1) Activity

2) Money

.... the same applies to the real world 0.0

So according to your graph, the top hitters in Pirates are more active than the top hitters in Pink Power? Thanks for clearing that up!

Problem is, there's no denying that they have a harder road. But then the question becomes why is this competition now pitting how much they can abuse mechanics against how well fair teams can fight back? No one else is interested in that.

If they lose, if they win, there's going to be complaints. People from all teams (including theirs) just wanted a fun competition. All this shit-pokery has been forced upon everyone because they didn't want to play fair and now the rules are all over the shop and everyone's at each other's necks.

"Salty, cry, whine and cheese" - wait for it.
Multipass [1955315]

Yep thats right. Less people making more hits. Costing them more to fight a virtually un-winable war seeing as you have 13k more hits then them...

It's not that easy to summize - it's the story of the hen and the egg.. Who's to know if the "regular" PP-player decided to be active, because of the forum activity and contributions shown early on in PP? Activity fosters more activity, we all know that (at least if you've been in a proper faction). When people set up plans and strategy and communicate, it's easy for the not-so-gifted player to follow that and make a big contribution.

PP had a plan for hosp/leave/mug all the way through, even on who to do it - it is quite clear to me (based on the attacks I have received) that other teams didn't have that to the same degree. I got hosped when we were at 0 and left while we were +2k compared to number two.

And no, I didn't change sex to join PP, been female for the last 2 years or so.. I was gonna take part in this competition casually, perhaps go for top 5% if it look feasible. However after seeing the dedication from the teammates and the amount of stuff being offered to any and all player on the team, I figured there was a decent chance of winning this thing and I'm now on within the first 5 pages of team PP - and that's without spending anything besides natural energy, refill, xanax and meds.. It's not that hard to sit in hospital and wait for your energy to regain, then line up targets, med out, hit targets, and get put back into hospital after. People talk about being able to do 12 hits a day - come one, challenge yourselves. 12 hits is nothing, anybody can do that with the amount of targets available.

People just gave up because they felt cheated - which is the easy way, the quitters' way.. Pick up your sorry selves and give it a go.
Multipass [1955315]

No its not. I'm not even in the comp. The difference has been clearly explained and illustrated. The way the PP is stacked is not fair. All humans are born with an innate understanding of fairness, so I know for a fact you know this to be true, wether you admit it on the forums or not.
marlow [1978451]

you forgot that having almost all faction members in the same team also allows them to better use faction specials like they might if they were planning on warring for 2 weeks straight.

i'm not sure if jfa/mnc actually have changed their upgrades tree to a warring state or not, but either way it's another advantage.

i'm really hoping that ched decides to remove rewards (merits/tokens) from gender swappers in PP so we can repost all the whine, salty, tears etc. memes that PP have been posting in the forums.
PhaNToM [1503918]

Oh shut the **** up with this already. You're playing a god damn crime game quit ****ing crying like little children.
Multipass [1955315]

I don't know if i agree with removing rewards. At this point I'd settle for an acknowledgement that this was a huge oversight and the impact of it was drastically under-estimated. I don't think it can be fixed retrospectively in any way that isn't equally unfair as the current situation. No point continuing to dig when already in a hole...

You're right about the other factors - I didn't mention them because I believe they are secondary and I have seen them mentioned already in many posts : )
Multipass [1955315]

**** off. You're being a bully and an idiot. So what if its a crime game? WTF is your point? Thats right - you don't have one.

Midnight got fedded and threatened with perma ban for an action which impacted virtually no one. People seemed happy to complain about that though. Did you react this way then?

Relentless got endless shit for totally unproven actions and had billions removed. Did you say the people who complain about WSSB were "crying"?

Imagine if it had been relentless who pulled this off instead of MnC/JFA/. Can you imagine the shit storm on these forums.

I have the right to call out shit that is clearly unfair. Its not crying, or whining or acting like a child. Its responsibly criticising unfair mechanics that continue to foster the perception that this game favours older players and stronger factions. If you don't like my opinion, don't ****ing read my posts.
Bezee [1685702]

Many would be perfectly fine even if you keep creating threads about this until the competition is over.

First you cry about gender change, which is not against the rules.

Then you plead for every team to focus their attention on PP, then PP became a target.

Now you're crying about activity...what is it going to be next? Going to demand a compulsory gynecology session for every PP member??
