Yup you guessed it.
Greasemonkey (or others alike for Firefox) is not fully compatible with the new Firefox engine, any script pretty much wont work.
Dont blame Torn, dont blame the scripts, blame the browser add on that uses said scripts.
While Greasemonkey still does not work a few others do work, I switched over to Tampermonkey myself and scripts work flawless again. In 57 that is.
Just dont forget to copy your scripts in a plain.txt files or whatever as backup, as upgrading Firefox from 56 to 57 will pretty much kill any installed script .
The scripts will be killed by Gresemonkey itself for sure if Greasemonkey is still installed while upgrading from 56 to 57, Greasemonkey will try to update itself to the latest version by default, which claims to be 57 compatible while it is not, regardless of this, the actual upgrade process alone, kills any present script.
Outside of that issue, loss of the scripts is still a possibility when upgrading Firefox from 56 to 57.
It is possible to recover them, but it isn't easy. Contact me for help with it.
I am still using FF 56 until as such time my extensions are fully fixed or alternatives are available for use in FF 57
As for GreaseMonkey I have discovered
ViolentMonkey (this clicky link is for FF browser only) as a much better alternative which is fully compatible with FF 57 and works on FF 56 also. It also works in Chrome, Chromium, Opera etc and in Linux and Windows environments - but dont use my clicky link above for these browsers.
I actually switched to 57 yesterday, using Tampermonkey. Just copied over the scripts and tada.
A bunch of other addons finally got up to date/found replacement for others.
Greasemonkey isnt what it used to be. It used to be king in the scripting world for Firefox for years. But it seems to have lost that title a few years ago.
