I think this is a bigger deal than some of you guys realize. This is about keeping control of the information in the hands of the rich. It is prohibitively expensive to start new print or television media, but it can still be done on the internet by people who aren't rich. If net neutrality is removed it will become prohibitively expensive to start an internet media business and the rich will be able to control the information we see even more than they do now.

Vote isn't happening until December 14th. Probably be some 1st amendment challenges. The internet is a utility supporting a huge part of the economy. Meanwhile AT&T is trying to merge with Time Warner leading to a massive anti-trust case. So if Gates or Bezos piss off a Comcast or Verizon exec, they can turn around and slowdown the microsoft or amazon sites? Slower updates and slower bids?

Yeah I was sure I heard about this a while back and now its about again, what a joke.
It's literally nothing.
What is a more likely to happen if this pushes through is that your ISP will continue to allow access to every site but will be able to charge extremely high bandwidth users that are literally slowing the entire internet down for everyone, either more money or throttle their bandwidth. This needs to happen eventually because infrastructure improvements can't keep up with demand.
Video streaming is literally killing the internet.

He is wrong, American ISPs have a history already of illegally slowing down connections to sites like Netflix and boosting connections go sites which test your internet spees.
It does make me smile that some people do trust big business, I guess once you overlook all the shit they've done you can lie to yourself and convince yourself it'll be fine.
Oh goody on top of shitty service, I'm sure our Canadian TelCos (The Big 3), are already twisting the screws on the CRTC to have this as a paradigm for Canada as well.
