I'm currently on my first year of an MSci in Physics with Astrophysics. Was inspired as a kid by Carl Sagan's Cosmos, been wanting to follow in his footsteps ever since
I'm currently studying for an undergraduate in Astrophysics!
All things Astronony amaze me. There's just so much we don't know!
Did a fun wee experiment recently which both proved the Earth is a globe and satellites are real, and calculated my position on earth. Using a small radio telescope I found the positions of several known geostationary satellites in the sky, graphed their altitude against azimuth and used the maximum possible altitude to determine my latitude. Using the satellite longitude against azimuth I could then figure out my own longitude.
It was something that had never occurred to me before that you could figure out your exact location on Earth simply by looking at where satellites are in the sky
