This is a generic Star-Wars based thread (non-canon, what even is canon, anymore? I cba to figure that out!) set in the Sith Academy on Korriban. You have been abducted from your home, and forced to serve aboard an Imperial transport shuttle to pay for your passage on Korriban and the Sith Academy. Your "service", at present, consists mostly of guard duty. Guards are posted in all entry halls, during confinement hours, during which all entry-level student-class personnel (including our characters) are confined to their dorm area, which include a few pamphlets and other introductory, but public-informaion materials related to the Korriban Sith Academy.
You prepare to board the shuttle, dressed in a standard Imperial uniform, with no rank insignia. You may give yourself a rank of Corporal if and only if you write into your OP a backstory to include a brief history of your Sith bloodline, such that you would be entitled to an issuance of rank. As a courtesy to you, I will follow up with an example in my own character's OP. Otherwise, play any race you like because it turns out that your presence was sensed by a very foppish Sith Lord, who is weak in expression of the Force, but abnormally strong in detecting the presence of Force users. He therefore rose to the rank of Director of Recruitment to the Sith Academy, and is charged with finding prospective pupils strong in the Force, and bringing them, by force. (see what I did there?) to The Academy. He is very good at his job. His particular attunement to the Force is not particularly strong in the Dark Side, and he has very little passion, or emotion. He is similarly distant from the Light Side, however, and appears to view you as a beast meant to be tagged and transported, in order to meet his quota.
"i am called Lord Gerabrack, and I am the Director of Recruitment to the Korriban Sith Academy. You have been identified as having a strong connection to the Force, and must therefore serve the Empire as potentially a Sith Lord, like myself. Under normal circumstances, there is a very good chance that you might die in the Academy, as normally only one student survives. This time, however, it will be different. You are a part of an elite class, who will be trained in the Dark Arts and then, when your proctor deems you prepared, sent as a group to confront the Darkness at the Heart of Korriban, the entrance to which only opens once every several millenia. In a class of this size, I would expect any given individual's chance of survival woud be approximately 1 in 3. Upon your accaptance into the Academy, you will trade your Imperial-class Uniform in for Iniate's Robes, and will be issued a practice-saber. You will also receive a book, containing the history of the ancient trial, which appears to have been present since well before the planet was settled by Ancient Sith, long before a single tomb had been erected upon its desolate, red soil. You will not be tested on this material, until the trial, so you will be doing both yourself, and your fellows a momentous disservice by not knowing this material by heart. Students are forbidden to kill one another, but we Sith do not abide fools, so your training may be cut very short should you do something deemed unacceptable by one of us. Good Luck."
The speech was dry, and seemed very well-practiced, despite that it hadn't been used by him until recently. This was a first for Lord Gerabrack, but he didn't betray the fact. He looked forward to watching the holovid of the students during the trial. He hoped that the drone wouldn't end up being destroyed, as there was much for him to learn of Korriban's history, and little known other than the contents of the aforementioned book.
After a brief and very clearly insincere apology for any casualties suffered by your planet, town, or family during your abduction, he dismisses you to the dining hall, where you are treated as a Sith, and provided a cafateria-style starship meal, which turns out to be delicious. Turns out, the Sith are quite passionate about fine dining, and although everyone in the crew outranks you, you are still recognized as being Sith, and given certain amenities as a result.
Barn Salm was full-blooded Sith, though he had no idea his species. He grew up on a planet in which the encountered no others of his kind. He was told that he had been found in the wreckage of a starship that had crashed, and he was adopted by a family who tried to teach him morality, courtesy, and above all, honesty. They failed miserably. He was a bad kid. Real bad. He wasn't one to play nice, even at a tender age. One day, one of his friends made him so angry, it felt as if he were struck by a bolt of lightning. His hair stood on end and he felt its energy throughout his body. It didn't occur to him at the time that there wasn't a cloud in the morning sky, but rather than hurting him, the electricity surging through him made him feel powerful. He decided to throw the energy at his playground rival. Surprisingly, it work. It also electricuted the hapless kid.
Despite that most of the children witnessed the event, the adults seemed to side with the red kid. They ruled it an accident, but Barn soon found that his education was accelerated very soon after. The adults began to address him is "My Lord", and his grades went through the roof! He asked his adopted family about this, but they seemed to know nothing, they just looked very, very sad. He graduated from school early, and joined the local militia, where he again advanced very quickly to the rank of Captain. It was during these years that he learned that the lightening seemed to stay with him, as if he could call the energy to come when he was angry or afraid.
Finally, the boy reached the age of maturity, though his life was already that of a grown-up, his body was still that of a child ust reaching the age of maority. He was awakened by a knock on the door of his Officer's quarters.
"Captain! Wake up! We're under attack! The Sith Empire is demanding that we surrender you to them or else they will destroy the battalion!"
Half asleep, Barn Salm asked the Lieutenant, "Who .. who are the Sith?"
The T'wilek Lieutenant balked. The Captain really didn't know, he realized.
He swallowed hard before responding. "They are.. your kind, my Lord. They are masters of the Force, or so they say."
"The Force?" he thought, until it hit him: the lightning! This must be something all his people can do.
The young Sith dressed in his formal military uniform in record time, and was soon on the communicator with the orbiting shuttle.
Though he might have expected it, he was still shocked when the screen showed a face that looked very much like his own, only female. He greeted her, "This is Captain Barn Salm, of the Planetary Defence Force. What is your interest in me?"
She smiled, and replied, "You have been identified as the only known living relative of a powerful Sith Lord, and we have found you by following your strong connection to the Force."
"Then you know of my power?" he asked, although he was very sure he already knew the answer.
"Your power is still in its early stages. You are commanded to surrender and allow us to transport you to the Sith Academy on Korriban."
He had never heard of it, but a chance to join his kind was more than he could have wanted. He just looked at her, wondering what it would be like to live among them. She gave him coordinates to meet the transport, and made it very clear that they would take him to the Academy with or without his concent. The commuicator was shut off after he had received the coordinates, but a tap on his shoulder by his Commanding Officer, Major Yonker, who handed him his honorable discharge, and an enlisted man's Imperial Fleet uniform, as well as a file explaining his military retirement benefits accrued for his very short, though distinguished, time in service in the Planetary Defence Force.
The other soldiers stared as they watched the Major bow to a Corporal, thank him for his brilliand term of service, and wished him well on Korriban. Barn Salm didn't understand. Was the Sith Empire so powerful? If so, why han't he heard about them before now?
Suddenly, it all made sense, the school, the military, they didn't want him to know who he was, for fear of drawing the Sith to the planet. They were now treating him as a celebrity, in order that he might surrender himself to the Sith and go to the Academy. That suited Barn Salm just fine. He had always felt himself superior to the frail blue creatures, who he felt matched him neither in strength, nor in wit, even including the kindly old couple who had adopted him.
The Major led him back to his quarters, and by the time they got there, his belongings were already packed away, and being loaded into a hovercraft to take him to the shuttle transport rezendevous coordinates. The Maor and his accompanyment of cadre stood at port arms outside the Captain's Quarters as he changed his uniform one last time there. He chose not to keep his dress uniform, as he had no further need of it, having been discharged from the PDF already. The Major pinned a corporal insignia onto his Imperial uniform, and with appropriate military decorum announced to those present that Barn Salm was, by virtue of his powerful Sith bloodline, granted the rank of Corporal in the Imperial Fleet.
At the rezendevous point, The soldiers transferred the former Captains belongings to the Imperials waiting there, who carefully scanned and tagged them for transport. The sith and his belongings were then transported up to the orbiting shuttle, where he went through the airlocks, to finally be greeted by another Sith, this one very well-dressed, with a very aristocratic manner stood waiting expectantly.
"Corporal Salm reporting, my Lord." he said with a PDF salute toward the foppish Sith.
The Sith did not bother to return the salute, but did make a welcome speech, if one could call it that. Barn Salm was then taken to the ship's dining hall. The food was amazing, quite possibly better than any meal he had ever had in his life. It was only after he had gotten used to this fact that he began to notice others like him in the dining hall.
All in for Revan.
Kaiden looked out his bedroom window, seeing the red dust of the desert kicked up by something he moved closer to the dust-stained window to see what was happening, the village if you could call it that was comprised of several sandstone buildings, the red sands giving them a dull red color. this made what he saw even more puzzling, shipments weren't due for another month besides the fact the craft he saw was far too uniform to be a supply ship.
he had no interest in feelings or emotions, his only desire was knowledge, it was thanks to this that he had learned how to read from the rare times he had interacted with the village that he distanced himself from, he used this knowledge to read the signs on the side of the vessel he could make out warning signs regarding the storage areas on the vessel and saw that it was a millitary ship of some kind
Kaiden decided to open the front door and go outside to get a better view, he lived alone due to his unusual behavior and cold personality otherwise someone might have been there that day to warn him against going outside that day.
As he opened the door the ship had just touched down on the sand, he saw the large cargo door open, three figgers emerged, the one in the middle seemed most important as the two that flanked him or her seemed well armed and armoured, all the figures were wearing dark clothing, the one in the middle whore a cloak and a face mask, "most likely to protect himself from the dust" Kaiden thought to himself.
as the three figures disembarked several soldiers emerged from the vessel, moving towards the other buildings, then suddenly they stopped, guns drawn towards the village people, ready to fire at a moments notice, the three figures were now standing less than three metres from Kaiden, they didn't need to stand in Kaiden's personal space to be intimidating, the two guards where well armed and the cloaked woman were tall enough.
the woman in the middle introduced herself only as a servant of the sith, she stated in a matter of fact way why she was there and to her surprise Kaiden seemed more relaxed at hearing he would be going to a sith academy, having no previous education this seemed like a glowing opportunity to Kaiden's cold thinking logic, since it was obvious Kaiden was a willing participant he simply followed behind the sith servant and onto the vessel where he was greeted by and old but strangely strong looking man.
"your home village will be destroyed before we leave," he said as the soldiers opened fire if Kaiden felt any form of emotion it didn't show, it was as if he had seen a piece of scrap paper thrown into the bin, he simply felt nothing, as the ship left the atmosphere he diligently read the material he had been given with a cold calculating gaze he turned through the pages.
Kaiden found the book to be very technical, something he should probably wait until a bit further into his training to review. Still, he was able to glean a few insights into Sith culture, and this might give him a small advantage when he arrived at the Academy. Kaiden was given his Imperial starship uniform and given the standard briefing, after which he was hustled into the dining hall. The line was fairly short, and the serving line gave him the respect due a future Lord of the Sith. After receiving his tray, he was left to choose a seat. A red-skinned Sith waited there. He seemed to have been the first, looking about to see if anyone would join him. Upon seeing another newcomer, He raised his hand and motioned to him his approval to sit down at the Sith table. Sith tended to prefer not to sit by non-Sith in the dining area.
"I am called Barn Salm, Corporal Salm outside of the social setting. I am a former Captain of the Planetary Defence Force on my home planet, which I am glad to have left. I was an outsider there, and the natives were weak and foolish. Its nice to finally meet a fellow Sith," he offered in introduction.
as if carefully processing the information Kaiden said nothing for 2 minutes, then replied " I am Kaiden, I never learned of my home planet's name as I felt it was pointless, the villagers shunned me after I shot a man's arm off, but they are all dead now, so my social status there is obsolete" he spoke in a machine like voice "what is a Corporal? I never read about such species in any books I found" he asked, with no hint of sarcasm.
*Barn Salm shrugged*
"Its a military ranking, but in our case, its just for show, it would seem," he replied, in answer to the question. "Its good they're dead, because it sounds like they were weak. The weak must always bow to the strong, or else perish. Its simply the natural order of things," he continued. Kaiden did not seem particularly keen on conversation, so Barn Salm decided not to chatter on too much.
Kaiden examined his food, and then, as if he hadn't eaten in a week scooped up the food and swallowed it, disregarding the cutlery as if it was nothing more than decoration, after finishing the food he simply sat in his chair, back straight, looking straight ahead, as if waiting for orders from his superiors
The two young cadets soon found themselves on guard duty. One guard per entrance. Kaiden was assigned the outside exit, and Barn Salm the front entrance. There was nobody expected, and both guards are told that new arrivals muct be accompanied by an acting Sith Lord, who will assign new arrivals a room, issue room access passes, and so on. Contact Lord Gerabrack via holocom for any suspected intruders. If unable to prevent escape, deadly force is authorised.
