Thoughts on Trump's new Dreamer Plan......

Path to citizenship (approx. 12 years) for 1.8 million dreamers and 25 billion for border security and immigration reform (chain migration and visa lottery)

If Trump is able to end chain migration, and the visa lottery, I don't think that anyone would be opposed to letting the "dreamers" stay in the country, provided they are vetted, and anyone with a criminal record, or who lacks a solid education (finished highschool) are barred from staying.

Republicans are worried Trump is giving up too much ground too early in the game, but in reality, theres no need to play hardball. We played hardball by letting the government shutdown happen, and showed them dems that the Trump admin wont be walked all over. Now that everyone knows their place, it only makes sense that each side give up fighting, and give in to the opposition. Especially for the Reuplicans. They are getting so much out of this deal if it goes through. To continue to fight with dems over 1.8 million dreamers would be absurd.

As long as the whitehouse doesn't give up any ground on immigration reform, and funding, I think this will be an all around good deal. The dems get to keep the "dreamers" and feel good about winning at their PC politics, and the Republicans get the chance to make REAL, meaningful immigration reform, which will be a long lasting positive for our country, and for the Republicans as a whole, because they will be able to deliver on a promise they've (And Trump) been promising to the American people for a long time. This could actually bolster the Republican's base of voters, and make it easier for them to win in the upcoming elections.

Now all they have to do is actually get it done!

I guess since Trump's art of deal 101 technique is to go in high and hard and then negotiate back to what he really wants we can expect the path to citizenship to really be 6 years or so, and he only wants about 12 million for border security.

It seems reasonable enough on the surface, but the reality is that we can spend as much as we want on border security, but until the Will OF THE NATION is actually to end criminal entry into the USA and punish those who are involved we are just pissing away good money after bad in my opinion.

I say: One time amnesty for all "Law abiding" (I know, I know... they are already criminals, but...) illegals, and then a strict NO MORE policy. All states, cities, and municipalities need to be on board, and all law enforcement needs to act accordingly, or the whole thing is nothing more than a farce.

The will of the nation IS to end illegal immigration, and to reform legal immigration... thus, the reason President Trump IS, PRESIDENT Trump.

Amnesty for all illegals is the equivalent of negotiating with terrorists. Give in to their demands once, and the demands keep on coming. Give in to illegals once, and more will keep coming in hopes they'll get amnesty down the line as well. There is no way to get the coastal/liberal cities/states to reform their beliefs on immigration, therefore it would be a farce to even try. Trump has already tried cracking down on sanctuary cities... and they've created more in spite of that. So to believe if we give them what they want now, that they will follow through on their end is idiocy.

We need to enforce the laws we already have in place. That's the only way we can hope for meaningful reform. Once a wall is built, and border security is better funded/tightened, we can move forward with fixing our illegal immigration problem. As illegals are found, they need to be arrested, processed, and sent back to their country. There were reports that military special forces weren't able to get over/around prototypes of "the wall" so I doubt groups of hopeful illegals will be able to do the same. Once the wall is up, we can move on to removing illegals currently here. THEN we can move on to enforcing federal law on states and cities via withholding of federal funding until these places become compliant with the law.

THAT is the will of the people. America is overwhelmingly FOR the dreamers, but we are also a majority AGAINST illegal immigration. So we can keep the dreamers (if that's the bargaining chip we need to fund the immigration/border overhaul), and we can even keep the "chain migrants" who were born here via their illegal parents, but Illegals and migrants here via the lottery visas need to go, including the parents of anchor babies, including single mothers working hard for a better life, including the people who have good hearts. We need to stop feeling bad for illegals who want to do better, and do what needs to be done to better the lives of American Citizens. We have our own single mothers, good hearted people, children, and veterans who need to be taken care of. Theres no room to have a "big heart" for illegals, at least not until we can get our own problems under control

Trump barely won the election. If it was not for 40000 people living in a few counties that normally went Democrat wanting to try to save their jobs because Hillary came in and said: "Coal is dead," her fat ass would be sitting in the Oval office today getting ready for her first State of the Union address, so please don't try to sound as if Trump's victory was some kind of mandate. It was a backlash victory coupled with the fact that Hillary was a horrible candidate... and there is no National Will on anything. The nation is more divided today than at any time since Lincoln.

The wall... what a joke... I don't care if a group of Special Ops guys couldn't get around a mock up someplace in a controlled setting. Fixed fortifications are a monument to mans incompetence. If we somehow walled up the southern boarder so what? There are thousands of miles of coast and our Navy and Coastguard are already pretty busy doing drug enforcement work.

I don't want illegal immigrants here. I don't want amnesty. I don't want any of that stuff, but what I don't want even more is the continuation of the same old same old, and nothing new being tried. A one time amnesty, and then a zero tolerance approach is at least something different. I will be honest with you... my personal opinion is that this is a simple problem to fix. We simply set up machine gun nests every thousand feet along the border and shoot to kill. I guarantee that after a few dozen reported invaders are shot sneaking over the border... the problem will end... at least on the southern border, but we still have all that coast line to worry about, and the north woods as well... anyway... that machine gun nest thing isn't going to fly, but if we were really serious it could be done, and fast.

The will of the people... there is no will of the people in this nation, and that is probably okay, but just because the POTUS flavor of the day is republican doesn't mean that in about a year it won't change and be democrat, at least in congress, and when that happens... Trump won't get anything done... in fact he might find himself removed from office, because the majority of Americans simply don't like him.

Bottom line. I want an end to criminal immigration. I want Americans to all be working, and fed, and taken care of first, and then we can worry about the rest of the world.

84% of the counties in the US voted for Trump. Large, coastal, cities have become a meca of the liberal ideology, and they are the ONLY reason Hillary even came CLOSE to having a chance.

16% of our country dictates 50% of the influence. Its ludicrous, yet its the same every election. And that's EXACTLY why the Dems fight so hard for illegals, and the dreamers. They know that large cities have higher minority population density than other areas of the country, and if they can speak to that base, they can hold power over our country.

Trumps win wasn't a fluke, or a bad opponent, it was him speaking to people who are tired of living under democratic rule in their area. They were tired of being overlooked, and underappreciated by their elected officials, while watching their country be taken over by foreign ideologies, and foreign peoples. Tired of the politically correct bullshit that they knew were ruining their country. Tired of hearing they were racists, or xenophobic, or bigoted for even THINKING that illegal immigrants shouldn't be here, or that radical Muslim ideology was harmful, and doesn't fit in with American ideology, or that people should own up to their own actions instead of blaming other races.

So they voted for the guy who was rash, and outspoken, and outlandish. The guy who spoke directly to the idea that, we are all equal, were all unheard, and we all need a better opportunity to succeed no matter who we are. To downplay all that as just Trump having a bad opponent is pretty subjective in light of how monumental his win was.

In fact, most of your comments were pretty subjective and demeaning. But, Unless poor illegal immigrants to the south start building planes or submarines, I'm pretty sure a giant wall will keep border jumpers at bay. So, as i said already... first steo, build the wall, second step reform visa lottery/chain migration, 3rd step, get rid of illegals as they are found naturally via the justice system.

Once the wall is up and immigration reform is implimented, we can get rid of border hoppers from the south, and people who come here and overstay their visa, or pop out kids so they can stay, etc from other countries to the north/east/west who can't get back into our country simply by running across a river. Leaving us with a country better equip to take care of it's citizens, and to allow the best and the brightest to immigrate to our country to help better the US as a whole.

Anything less than those 3 steps, and nothing will be done to positively impact our country, as amnesty has been tried over and over, and has done nothing but flood our country with illegals.

The only truly agreeable part of your statement is that our country is divided. Which is true. And it's a direct result of social media and mass media campaigns for and against other ideologies. Fox news impregnating right wingers with thoughts, CNN impregnating the lefties with their thoughts. Social media sell whatever thoughts the highest bidder wants u to believe. Most people don't have any sort of true grasp on politics, law, or policy, yet they will attack and degrade their friends, family, and others over who they voted for, without even knowing their policies or stances.

The only cure for the negativity and division is for the PC culture to end, for the truth to be spoken on a mass scale, for more people to be working and making money, and for less people to be struggling to survive. And say what you want about Trump as a person, but unemployment is at the all time low, black people have record low unemployment, stock markets are at all time highs, GDP matches all time high, people are getting more money in their paychecks... It's going to take time, but the unification of the country is making progress under the current admin, and It's sad to see so many people; regular, celebrities, and politicians alike, fighting against it.

Trump's victory was due to those things that I spoke about... not that anything you wrote is wrong, but in the final analysis his win was a fluke, and for the very reasons I mentioned, but if it makes you feel better that 84% of the counties voted for Trump when more people voted for Hillary, then fine. He won. I have no problem with the fact that he won, but to claim some kind of mandate is preposterous.. 84% of the empty earth in the USA is a great visual, but the truth is that more actual people wanted the lying evil harpy to be POTUS.

While I think this issue does need to be dealt with, and I have already stated my opinion on it above, I am curious why this "issue" is suddenly so important. The dems had all the power in 2009, and they did nothing to make a permanent fix on this issue, and now suddenly it is the sticking point to getting shit done in Washington? Suddenly Mrs. Pelosi, that ancient liberal has to stand and talk for 8 hours? Why didn't she show this much will to solve the problem back when her main man Obama was POTUS, and the dems controlled everything... you know, back in 2009?

Let me answer the question:

Because democrats are using this whole DACA issue for political gain. That is all there is to it. Their hearts are not any bigger. They are mostly all rich elitists who pander to one half of the electorate for power and control.
