The particular DDoS attacks we've been receiving have now come to an end. Torn will always be a target for such activities so there's certainly no guarantees they won't happen again in the future. However over the past few months we've drastically improved our protection to the point where they were being 99% mitigated with little to no effect on services.
The major outages we had were actually caused by a Cloudflare bug (during the attacks), rather than something on our end. At the time, we were in contact with the CEO and CTO of Cloudflare and this is now fully resolved. In total, since the start of the year we had 43.5 hours of outages / substantially reduced performance due to these attacks.
- Law enforcement agencies were contacted and an extensive investigation was carried out.
- The suspect was identified, arrested and has been referred to the criminal justice system.
