I see a lot of people having trouble with combination chests so i decided to make a 1min video opening it.

Remember you only get 4 tries to open it so make use of every turn efficiently.

Say 1st try(123) you get 2 reds and one yellow. For the 2nd try move the yellow and change the reds. Just maximize every turn.

[I did read tho that you can reset the chest(changing the codes, back to 4 tries) if you leave it. Haven't tried this yet so im not sure.][Leaving and Re-trying doesn't work]

I always do 123 then 456 and remember the correct numbers .

Depending on the first 2, I might do 789 and solve it in the 4th attempt at least 4 out of 5 times

The Basic Strategy is 123,456,789.....with some Logical Thinking on 3rd and 4th attempt.

 

The only time you change the third combination is when 123, and 456 yield only 1 or 2 yellows total from the first two attempts.... 

 

Then use one of the yellow number and replace 7 or 8 , or 9 in a different place/position  ...for the third attempt.

 

With these two step.. you will have 98% success in solving the chest in the fourth attempt by logical process of elimination when you look back at all three attempted results.

 

 

Addendum 

In fact there is another combo of result that require a change to the basic strategy and require a change to the third attempt.

 

123, 456, yields 1 green, and 1 yellow...and both are in the same place.. 

 

Example. 1 is Yellow. And 4 is green from first two attempts.

 

Get more information of number 1 in the third attempt by using it again and the three results will definitely reveal what is the number.
