Not really sure if the is the most appropriate section to post this, but anyways ...

Raiding seems designed to destroy newbies in favor for oldbies, shutter new faction and consolidate older faction; This will discourage new players from starting a faction [why do that? If any oldbie faction can come close it down, why do it?] and may increase desertion of players [why stick around if ya cant into any oldbie faction (b/c of the requirements)] ...

Will muck around a bit ... but seems to not bode well, shall see; Not a deserter, but not going to advise anyone start a faction till the raiding mechanics is rehauled; The few threads seen in a search bear this out, the oldbies love it cause of thier powerbase, newbies not so much for the converse

Just a feel fellings under a raid; Thanks for reading, felt needed to express this

This is Questions and Answers. Your thread is better suited to General Discussion.

Anyway, raiding and destroying a faction is not as easy as you think. It takes a lot of money and energy to completely destroy a faction. I don't see any reason why big factions would want to spent so much time and money on destroying a faction when they gain nothing.

Thanks Claire, for the reply and the opinion ... would move the post, not sure ya can do that tho;

If a newbie faction has 5000 respect and a oldbie faction can extract 250/day, that is 20 days or less, a blip in the TORN marathon [it's not a sprint, #amiright?] ... and the reason to do it is b/c the oldbies can (boredom), some people wanna see the world burn, learned that long time ago [Amrak, perhaps an example]

Anyways, thanks again

You are forgetting that they can generate respect while they are being attacked. And the old factions have far better things to spend there time and effort on, such as wars or respect gains.

So far I've just seen raids used to threaten factions into submission, not actually taken all the way to destroying them. People respect ownership and no matter how annoying a noob faction is they still worked hard for whatever miniscule respect they have compared to a large old faction. Also I agree with the point that raids are a huge waste of energy for what is essentially spite or pointless.
