Not sure if this has already been answered and I'm too lazy to look, but why does a race sometimes get down to the last minute, then jump up to about 1-2 minutes?

Its only official races. Those last few minutes are when the race is set. You cannot change car or leave the race then.
I know its kinda pointless and just wastes more time.
For some reason the Devs like pointless clicks and wasted time especially in racing.

My guess is the system needs a minute or two to calculate the result (when racing points are involved).
