does clicking on city increase the chance of finding things in the map? or does items come automaticaly?

Items have a chance of spawning randomly per Torn day. The only things that increase the chance of finding items are Awareness merits, job specials in a 5* firework stand/candle shop and a 7* zoo, doing the psychology education PSY2680: Attention and Awareness or using a book called Finders Keepers. Although, spending merits on awareness is quite useless since it's nerfed af - pretty much a waste.
