Can anyone explain to me why parcels are worth so much on the Item Market? Is it really just the mystery box concept?

Parcels can no longer be listed on the item market, so the ones you see are the final few remaining parcels being bought up. Listed long ago.

Some of them are listed by permanently fedded accounts. Should those listings be removed?

The fedded account's listings are left there to strategically remove money out of the game... maybe.
I don't know, I thought you couldn't interact with fedded accounts?
You can't, but you can still buy things they have for sale.
