Does anyone know the actual algorithm for awareness? We all think we know how it works, any many people have many different views on it. But i don't really get it. There seem to be more variables than just awareness and set % of finding an item.
1. You can invest merits and education courses to boost awareness
2. Awareness is based on a chance of finding an item
But when we look at that everyone has the same chance, unless they invested merits. Then there are people who get more without merits (at least claim to) or don't they see a difference.
There are complete newbies who find parachutes, and yet many veterans still have to find something worth more than an energy can.
Which basically changes the awareness into : Luck
You can make yourself luckier by investing all merits into awareness and courses making yourself double as lucky. Yet you still find nothing.
Does this "luck" even out at one point? Does the newbie who found a parachute and nice items not find anything for the next 10 years? And the 10 year veteran will start finding them back to back soon?
Does the algorithm for example look like this: (not actual figures)
0.000001% chance every login to find a parachute
0.001% chance every login to find an energy can
0.1% chance every login to find a cheap item
add 5 awareness
0.000010% for parachute
0.010% for e can
1.0% chance for cheap item
So the increase exists but is negligible? Like you can role a 1 every single hour on a die and for the rest of your life never roll anything else..in theory. Which is a broken algorithm basically as it takes randomness out of the equation. Try to roll dice all day and notice you will never just roll a 1.
Or do you think elements like networth/age/logins/activity play a role as well?
Also do these factors have an effect on easter eggs you find? and xmas town spawn rates?
