Please make flash bangs do an incredibly low amount of damage, would add towards progress for temp finishes merits and be a funny addition to the game, as well as a realistic one. Getting hit with a flash bang can be a critical roll and it landing near can be a regular. The damage should be incredibly low but it also adds a reason to invest into temporary mastery. There would be two formats.

BitMappedIn threw flashbang near _ it exploded and caused disorientation.

BitMappedIn Hit _ With Flashbang and dealt 16 damage.

The first is already implemented in the game, the second would be the addition

Sorry but I don't like it for 2 reasons.

The fact they don't do damage allows them to be of use for certain missions where only damage from a certain weapon or weapon type may be done or the mission fails. Flash bangs are essentially mandatory for the harder ones.
Also, scripts like doctorn that alert for health drop, the alert would trigger for your target one turn earlier and actually be a disadvantage.

When you look at the new nail bombs and especially the HEGs, there are already decent temps to get the 100 finishing hits. Nail Bomb in particular has generated some inherent use to temp mastery merits with its ~82/~87 stats which makes it better than most guns even with weapon mods. It may not be easy to justify using them at $10m ea but as supply increases, this will eventually be a viable choice if trends continue. especially if we see more npcs with similar temps in the future.

And on that note, I think something that is both a stat grenade and a damage dealing grenade would be nice to add which could hopefully come in the form of a new temp from NPCs. I wouldn't want to see such a thing change flash grenades though which are already extremely useful in their current form.

This doesn't exactly state what it would take away from your game experience for it to be added. I don't quite understand why it being useful now means it's unable to be edited.

Modification:

Add a new weapon called the "Flashbang".

The thread title uses the word "flashbang" but BitMappedIn means flash grenade.

Maybe a different weapon with a slightly decreased stat effect but dealing damage.

This will definitely help more in group takedowns and NPC boss battles.

Edit:
The flashbang is probably already a weapon
Switch the names around
Juggle names
Maybe make a new one

Maybe I'm not making any sense

16 damage is trivial, so what's the point? Even with temporary mastery, it does 50 damage? No person would use this to work on finishing hit merits because the damage is too low compared to an HEG. Plus, this is a weapon you start a fight with, not finish one. Use a regular explosive to get your merit like the rest of us, or slappy fish.

Realism, Flash bangs do minute bodily harm, also when they do randomly do finishing hits so what. If it's trivial why not add it? It's attention to detail that brings out quality of a game.
Fishbum [2009144]
It's realistic like people walking the streets wearing welding helmets? I don't believe it adds anything to the game or that anyone would even notice it if it were added. So the real question is, why spend developers time on it in the first place?
BitMappedIn [2172188]
Like I said it's an attention to detail, you take harm from flashbangs IRL especially if hit with one, it's a text based game, why not make it as realistically depicted and descriptive as possible and at least capitalise on the best elements of the game.
