if someone rents me a house for 10 days and he charges me 100 for each day. do i pay the full amount upfront or do i pay daily?

You pay all of your rent to the property owner up front.
However, you are responsible for paying upkeep on the property for the duration of the lease, and any unpaid upkeep at the end is converted into debt to Duke.

If you're renting through the renting process it should just tell you how much you have to pay and then the upkeep is something you pay from time to time. You don't necessarily have to pay for 3 week straight if you don't want to but eventually you have to pay at the end of the rent. If you don't pay the upkeep ultimately it goes into your debt which you have to pay duke. There's no other way around it.
