Been a year since I've returned, and almost nothing's changed-choices, things to buy, outcomes of crimes, have I really missed out?

Dirty bombs. That's what you missed. about 30 of them or something

Crimes 2.0 is a year closer to being released.
A lot of typos were fixed during the year you were gone. So definitely a lot happened.

I left when I got locked out of my account, and couldn't get it back do to some weird country issue.
I came back using a different account, a few years later.
I expected a few more items, perhaps armour or real estates?

I'm sure that there are already at least 5,000 unique items in game already, if anything far too much junk items!
Houses are split into different Happiness categories which can be upgraded further.
So in different context what you after is a car that's currently being sold in 1L / 1.2L / 1.6L / 2L variants
but you want it in these formats: 1L / 1.1L /1.2L / 1.3L / 1.4L 0 /1.5L / 1.6L... e.t.c.
That makes no sense in this game!
You obviously not explored any of the game's other aspects besides looking at properties and basic armours to purchase.
The game only starts when you hit level 15 and are able to access other areas of the game, Some things wouldn't be available to you for years, depending on your activity.
This game is more of a Super Long Distance Marathon, the more time you invest the more you get out of it. If you want everything in a week, then this isn't for you.

You missed the Glowing Holidays, and another Glowing End to the summer, when dirty bombs were dropped frequently
you missed halloweentown being nerfed and some weird halloween basket thing...
