thats what usually happens when you fold, you loose all the money you put in the pot so you dont loose any more... if you want the option to fold without loosing money it needs to be done at your first betting option, if it wasnt your turn for big/small blind in which case you would loose that money

Yes, once you fold your hand you will lose any money that you had previously put into the pot, which will remain for the other players to win.

This is the before and after adding $9,000,000 to a Poker game. I don't see you losing anything that you had on-hand already?
