Weapon mods are items that you can attach on your weapons for bonuses during a fight.
You obtain them by trading in mission credits near the bottom of the missions page

Cool. That cant be the only way though?
At the moment it is the only way. You do missions and earn credits if you dont fail and with those credits you can buy mods or anything else you like and have credits for.
