I heard there are companies that you can lower the pay to their staff to $0, because of the specials outweigh the pay. Which companies are those, and is it moral to do that?

Gym gains from strip clubs far outweigh the pitiful profits they make. People literally queue up to join them and work for free, often with no trains, so yes it is a widely accepted practice within the game.

10* Adult Novelty. I dont pay my employees. They gain a erotic dvd every two days . Thats about $1.6M per day or they can use them to train

Would you say a Private Security Firm also fits into this, bcuz of the mission points and other bonuses? or would the staff expect payment bcuz of the income gain?

Any company can and will do so if peeps tolerate it and yes it is morally wrong as well as ethically wrong to do so as you prolly suspected slavery played out years ago with their own specials such as free housing and food and liquids and possibly having their healthcare needs provided for.
GrimRazor [1776608]
Tolerated yes and usually no complaints not for me to call it fair or not also people will if they can afford to pay for trains the value of stats gained as well as education reduction time cannot be accurately measured.Too bad no opportunity via special make even the most miniscule income but wish as we may that will not change and maybe it shouldn't.

Can tax.

Grocery/sweet/AN often tax their employees, in form of edvd or cans. Usually to pay for trains but each directors have their ways to run their companies.

Well, daily profit also belongs to the directors so... ¯\_(?)_/¯

I like this discussion, and it begs a relevant question from me as a company owner.

I own a restaurant, having just relaunched it for the second time now after a bout of inactivity. We are at 2 stars now (after just over a week!), and once at 5, flamethrowers become available for job points - worth about ~$2.5m each. At that point, does it seem morally just to at least slightly roll back wages? I feel like the value of the job special isnt quite as valuable as that at a 10* AN, but it is worth something, more than most people's daily wage as of now. If I can cut back a bit of my wages, I can stop the bleeding and see some profit as we climb to the top, and keep my employees happy while protecting my best interest - and this seems like a reasonable approach to me. Thoughts?
Taburisu [295365]
Unlike edvd that is always in-demand, flamethrower isn't so much. So it's not just about the item value, but also how popular they are.

For a restaurant, I think the best perks are the passives and 3 energy/1jp, not the flamethrower. 25% consumable cooldown is great for those who are reading can book.

Anyway, to answer your question. I think it may be best to adjust wages early on, as in now. If you're barely, or even not making any profit now, you won't be making any profit later on.

I usually give a fair amount of pay so I don’t have to decrease my wages. But, when OG staff leave I do hire with lower wages. This way my gain is higher. When my cruise line gets to 10 stars I’m hoping for $5mil profit per day minimum. More would be nice.

Morality has nothing to do with it. Torn runs a free market economy. No one is forcing them to work at one company or another. Its up to the employees if the compensation is fair or not. And if it isn't, then they'll just go work somewhere else.

I tried putting people on a pay scale that measured their activity, and found that was way more unpopular.
Employees who got their pay doxed for inactivity, would sometimes leave, and the morale plummeted.

Now I work for a faction logistics company, and besides the director I'm the only one who get's paid.
I keep looking for another company to buy, but unless it pays more than 3.5 mil a day, or is a 10* farm,
feels like I'm better off as an employee....
Bandit [2033238]
A psf could fit into this but I guess it really depends on the employees and director. The specials aren't good for making money and they have a pretty limited appeal so you're basically scrounging for disliked people with high stats that are too lazy to play through bounties
PimpChu [1284243]
of course its moral.

a 9 or 10* AN nets 3 erotic DVDs a week, at 3.5mill each (ish) giving the employee an income of 10.5mill a week.

meanwhile the company income is between 1-2 mill a day (7-14mill a week)

What would you rather?

10* Fitness Centers' pay ranges from zero to a modest amount. However, people do not join Fitness Centers for pay, its all about the perks.
KermodeBear [2011760]
Morally wrong?

Nobody is forcing the workers to work there. If they want to get paid money, but the manager isn't paying them, they can - gasp - leave and work somewhere else.

Not sure if OP is being a troll or just incredibly stupid.
Capel [1862198]
Not really true. While trying to recruit for an FC I had at 9* I couldn't find anyone who was willing to work for perks. They were all demanding 2m to 3m per week since the stat requirements are pretty close to that of the Logistics company.
