Hi Crimes has gone weird on me. I have completed enough shop lifting to move forward plus a lot more, a faction member was in a contest to see who could get the most.
I moved to pick pocketing without an issue until the last patch.
I pick pocketed a banker for about a week then after the patch would up in jail. I got let out and thought I should go back to shoplifting. Stole chocolate in jail very next crime. Thought it a bit weird and carried on shop lifting for a few days went back to pick pocketing no problem exactly the same thing happened today. I don't know if this is a bug but reading the guides I am following them correctly.

No changes have been made to the Crimes system I am afraid. As mentioned in most guides, failing a crime and getting jailed hurts your crime experience severely. All crimes have a chance of failing, you just hit a good streak when you got loads of greens in a row.

I personally wouldn't recommend doing any Thefts other than cloth shop > Jackets, just continue doing them and you will eventually reach a point where you won't fail Jacket thefts all that much, you can then move on to higher crimes (9 nerve Stealth virus or 11 nerve Arson warehouse depending on your crime upgrades). You can follow this guide, I think it is quite reliable.
