Prove you found one.
Fr tho they're useful af you can't sell anyway but keep it

Save it. Some are OP and people would buy them for days
I always liked that they weren’t.
They are items that you either have a random chance of getting or can earn through your playtime with missions and patience. That makes them kind collectible to me, and since their design helps the player that gets it, they are like collectible player buffs that can help you reach merits or stats or money faster than others.
If you have one that’s not useful to you right now hang onto it because it will become so later on.
They’ve never been tradable and I’m not sure if I’m adverse to it in the future, but I enjoy the way they are in game now for the benefits they provide and how you can’t just “get” one even though you want them.

So every player can only find one type of each book so once they acquired it inside there inventory whether or not its used, you will never find that type of book again so for each of the 44 books you find thats one less until eventually you acquire them all. Books are non-tradeable so players can't abuse them and should be non-tradeable for the foreseeable future.
Sidenote: Once used, a book will leave a collectible copy of itself in your inventory for display purposes only.

So I’ve been around for over 5k days and haven’t found any yet ? what could I b doing wrong or is my account broken ?
A, your 4k days old,
and B, the chances of finding a book in the city are lowest, followed by mission shop and sub gifts as highest

Just adding to the comment above, I see you haven't done any missions, so there's no way of getting book there, and you're not a sub, so no chance there. The only remaining way is through the city, and those odds are extremely low, probably similar to hitting jackpot on slots I'd assume
Damn ! I got 4 books in a row for my sub and the same day found a book in the city. Didn’t know it was that rare i thought my SE find was better
